Co-op Month: Celebrating our members

Communities come in all shapes and sizes, some are rooted in neighborhoods, others in shared interests, and many thrive in virtual spaces. No matter how they form, communities foster connection, support, and a sense of belonging.

At Central Electric, we’re proud to be part of a community built on cooperation. As one of more than 30,000 cooperatives across the country, we’re celebrating National Co-op Month, a time to honor the values that make cooperatives unique and the strength that comes from membership.

Electric cooperatives like Central Electric are not-for-profit utilities, created by and for the communities they serve. Our mission remains clear: to deliver safe, reliable, affordable power while staying responsive to our members’ evolving energy needs. Because we’re locally operated, we understand the priorities of our community and we’re committed to meeting them.

But our commitment goes far beyond electricity. Our board of directors and employees are deeply invested in the place we all call home. We live here, too. That’s why we support local economic development, fund youth programs and scholarships, and contribute to charitable initiatives that make a meaningful impact.

We also believe in empowering our members through transparency, education, and engagement. Whether it’s helping you understand your energy usage, offering tools to manage your account, or listening to your feedback, we’re here to serve.

As we celebrate National Co-op Month, we invite you to reflect on what makes electric cooperatives special. At Central Electric, our purpose is people and we’re honored to serve our neighbors in the communities we love.
