Sharpening leadership skills for our youth

Central Electric recently sponsored Jokobe Moore-Johnson to attend the Cooperative Council of the Carolinas Leadership Camp in Raleigh. This two-day camp is an opportunity for high school students to enhance their leadership skills and explore the cooperative business model before going into the workforce or choosing their specialized field of study.

During camp, students explored the cooperative principles, created their own cooperative, managed areas of business such as marketing, budgeting and more. Campers were also introduced to local cooperatives with hands-on workshops. Camp attendance also allows students to apply for the CCC’s Jim Graham Leadership Scholarship in their senior year as they prepare for post-high school education.

Central Electric sponsors local high school students each year to attend Cooperative Leadership Camp. The application period for next year’s camp will begin in March and run through May 2026.
