POINT OF VIEW: Programs To Help You Save
From the desk of CEO & General Manager, Eddie Oldham
"Saving energy shouldn't be complicated. At Central Electric, we work to make it easier, more affordable, and within reach for every member.”
This month in our “Your Questions Answered” series, we’re tackling the question: What programs does the co-op offer to help members save energy and money? It’s one of the most common questions we receive, and for good reason. Everyone wants their home to be comfortable and efficient, and we’re here to help you get there.
The best place to start is the Ways to Save | Central Electric Membership Corporation section on our website. CEMCPower.com is full of quick, interactive tools that help you understand how your home uses energy. Our Energy Advisor asks a few simple questions and provides a personalized breakdown, and many members are surprised to learn where their biggest energy drains actually are. With calculators for things like heat pumps and lighting, it’s an easy, helpful way to explore smart efficiency upgrades.
Understanding your energy use is one thing, but putting that knowledge into action is even easier thanks to the rebates and financing options we offer. If you upgrade to a qualifying high efficiency heat pump or an energy efficient heat pump water heater, you can receive a $200 rebate to help offset the cost. And for bigger projects—like insulation, windows, doors, or even a new heat pump—our Comfort Loan Program, offered in partnership with ElecTel Cooperative Federal Credit Union, lets members finance upgrades at low fixed rates, with flexible terms and up to 100% of project costs covered. It’s a practical way to boost comfort and efficiency without stretching your budget.
And if you’re not quite sure what your home needs, our Energy Advisors are always available to help. Sometimes the most meaningful improvements come from simple steps like sealing air leaks, adjusting thermostat settings, or making small equipment upgrades, and having someone walk through your home’s unique situation can give you the confidence to move forward.
Energy savings don’t just benefit one household, they benefit the entire cooperative. When we all use energy more efficiently, it helps reduce strain on the system, supports reliability, and contributes to keeping rates affordable for everyone. That’s the cooperative model in action: we each play a part, and we all share in the benefit. We’re here to help with tools that work for you.
Until next time,
