Supporting Foster Families
In June, CEMC employees came together for a special service project focused on supporting foster care families and the dedicated professionals who serve them in Harnett County. After working with the Harnett County Department of Social Services Foster Care and Adoption team, our goal was simple: help create moments of joy and connection for local foster families.
To do that, our team assembled 70 “summer-fun” kits, one for each licensed foster home in the county. Each kit was packed with items designed to encourage fun, laughter and time together, including: footballs, soccer balls and frisbees; water blasters and toys for warm summer days; sidewalk chalk for creative play; and sunscreen and freezer pops for staying cool.
In addition to the supplies, each family received a handwritten note from our employees, sharing a heartfelt message of appreciation: “Thank you for opening your home and heart to children who need stability, care, and love. We hope this small token of appreciation brings your family moments of fun and togetherness this summer. You truly make a difference.”
While foster families play a vital role, we also wanted to recognize the behind-the-scenes efforts of the foster care professionals who work every day to ensure children are placed in safe, loving homes.
On June 25, Central Electric employees visited the Harnett County DSS office to provide breakfast for approximately 30 staff members as a small token of appreciation.
These team members work tirelessly, often without recognition, to support children and families during some of life’s most challenging moments. It was important to us to say thank you and let them know their work does not go unnoticed.
This service project is just one example of how Central Electric employees are committed to making a difference in the communities we serve. Whether it’s through volunteer efforts, community programs, or simple acts of kindness, we believe in giving back in ways that matter.
We are grateful for the opportunity to support foster families and the professionals who serve them, and we hope these small gestures help bring a little extra joy, appreciation and connection this summer.
